Mission
DULUTH Unidos strengthens the well-being of recently arrived Latine individuals and families by serving as a trusted community conduit, connecting people to culturally responsive organizations, public resources, and opportunities across the Twin Ports, St. Louis County, and the state of Minnesota. Through coordination, navigation, and partnership, we help newcomers access systems with clarity, dignity, and confidence.
A core part of this work is ensuring community members receive accurate, verified, and reliable information. We recognize that media outlets and social platforms often provide incomplete, misleading, or sensationalized information. DULUTH Unidos does not rely on media as a primary or secondary source for guidance. Instead, we prioritize direct communication with service providers, government agencies, and trusted community partners to ensure information shared is current, factual, and actionable.
Vision
We envision a region where Latine newcomers are welcomed, informed, and fully supported, where no one is isolated from essential services due to language, systems complexity, or lack of connection. DULUTH Unidos works toward a city of Duluth in which Latine communities can thrive, participate civically, contribute economically, and experience belonging from the moment they arrive.
Values
1. Cultural and Linguistic Responsiveness
We honor the diversity within Latine communities and commit to culturally grounded, language-accessible approaches that respect identity, heritage, and lived experience.
2. Community-Led Connection
We center the lived experiences of Latine community members. Our work is grounded in trust, relationships, and solutions informed by those most impacted.
3. Dignity and Empowerment
We approach our work with respect and humility, recognizing the agency, resilience, and strengths of individuals and families. Our role is to inform, support, and empower, not to speak for or replace community voices.
4. Truth, Accuracy, and Responsible Information Sharing
We believe misinformation harms communities. Media and social platforms are not reliable primary or secondary sources for critical information. DULUTH Unidos is committed to:
Verifying all information before sharing
Relying on direct sources and official providers
Correcting misinformation when encountered
Ensuring community members receive accurate, timely, and trustworthy guidance
